The project was originally called as Ritchie Blackmore's solo project, but then it was named Rainbow Flow, Rainbow Moon and simply Rainbow before it was finally decided as Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.
They released one album in the fall of 1995 and started touring in Europe and Japan afterwards, the first concert being in Helsinki, Finland, where Ritchie Blackmore had quit Deep Purple on November 17th, 1993.
Bands original drummer, John O' Reilly was replaced with Chuck Burgi before the band's first tour.
