Jeff Pilson, born on January 19th, 1960, became bassist for Dio in March, 1993, after Dio's original bassist Jimmy Bain was sacked from the band.
In late 1994, after Dio's Strange Highways US tour had ended, Jeff Pilson left Dio for Dokken re-union. The re-union was originally meant to be one-album-one-tour in Japan only, but eventually became more than that.
In the Winter of 1994-1995, Jeff Pilson was rumored to have some kind of a common project with Craig Goldie and Scott Warren , but those rumors vanished in the Spring 1995 when it became apparent that the Dokken reunion did not end to the Japan tour. At the same time there were also some rumors about Pilson, John Sykes and Kip Winger having some project together, but those rumors disappeared too.
In the beginning of May, 1996 Jeff rejoined Dio again, as the future of Dokken had became a little bit unclear. It has been confirmed that he plays bass on the forthcoming Dio album, but the question whether he will play on the tour too remains still unanswered. There are rumors about him playing on the tour, though.
