Simon Wright joined Dio in early 1990, when Ronnie James Dio , an old friend of him, called him and asked and asked if he could help them in studio because Vinny Appice had left the band. Wright got permission from his then-current band, Ac/Dc, to do that so he came to play drums in the studio for the Dio album. He was supposed to return back to Ac/Dc in February 1990 and start to work on the Ac/Dc's next album. However, as the Dio album was recorded, he wanted to join the band permanently and subsequently quit Ac/Dc. This happened in late March or early April 1990.
Besides the history below, these days Simon Wright should should be working with Michael Schenker.
