Here are all the news from August 1999 - some of these may be outdated already, so please check out the newest news for updates!
It looks like those three bands are going to do a Scandnavian tour in November! Although I haven't got a confirmation about this tour yet, some sources have published the dates. I put the dates up on my pages too - please check out the Tour Date Section on my pages. And read the disclaimer - those dates are not yet confirmed!
Rumors are floating on the Internet again.. According to the most prevalent rumor, Ronnie James Dio HAS NOT left Dio the band. There is a web page on the Internet ( http://www.holeinthewall.com/infernal.htm) where this has been "announced". However, if you read the disclaimer at the bottom of the page, you should realize this is just a joke and nothing more. One More Time: RONNIE JAMES DIO HAS NOT LEFT DIO.
Another strong rumor going on tells about a "Turkey Earthquake Aid" concert that would be held at Wembley Stadium in London on August 31st. According to the rumor, Ronnie James Dio and Ritchie Blackmore are set to perform there. However, Wembley Stadium doesn't know anything about this concert... this is yet another, unfounded rumor.
What comes to the two other rumors going on about Jimmy Bain rejoining Dio and the forthcoming Magica album release being delayed to early 2000, I don't know whether they're true or not. Also, I don't know anything about those rumors saying that Dio, Motörhead and Manowar doing a Scandinavian tour this winter. As soon as I hear anything solid at all, I'll let you know on this page for sure.
Deep Purple will do two Concerto shows at Royal Albert Hall in London, UK on September 25th and 26th. Both of the shows feature orchestra and various guest musicians. Supposedly one of the guests is no-one else than Ronnie James Dio, who'll do Love Is All and Homeward together with the band. Those two tracks are from Roger Glover's solo album "The Butterfly Ball" from 1974, Ronnie sung the songs on the album as well.
At least one of the shows (possibly 26th, it will be a charity concert) will be filmed for TV and recorded for a live CD.
Tracy G, the former Dio guitarist has released a "Driven CD Sampler" - a four-track sampler from the forthcoming full-length Driven CD. The CD is an individually numbered, limited edition of 1000 copies.
The full-length Driven CD is going to be released in October 1999. Tracy's also going to release a CD titled B.M.B. (Borracho Mojado Brothers), an instrumental project done in 1993. Besides those CDs, there'll be another WWIII CD out too. It'll include remastered demos of what could have been WWIII's second, full-length album.
For more information about these CDs, check out Tracy's web pages at address http://www.tracyg.com/.
"The Finnish Deep Purple/Rainbow Tribute" concert will be held again this year at Tavastia Club in Helsinki, Finland on September 4th, 1999. Several artists from different bands (including Stratovarius, Tarot, Conquest and 5.15 etc) will perform Rainbow and Deep Purple shows. For more information, please click here.
