March 3rd, Paradiso Amsterdam
We arrived at Paradiso after the support group had already Started (no good....) and I didn't even have a ticket!!! After buying one from some sad soul who decided he didn't want to see and were discussing whether or not Ronnie was going to sing Catch the Rainbow or not. Then the show began.
The greatest Rock singer the world has ever know casually strolled on to the stage and the sound let roar. I was enthusiastic about the way it sounded (but after hearing the Gent and London shows I was not so impressed with this one..) It was loud and Dio, Vinnie and Tracy really had a go at getting the audience going. Holland however was not to be subdued by this, they just sort of relaxed and listened to ther music. The started with a bang - Jesus, Mary & the Holy Ghost, and went on with the following tracks:
I hope that people here realise how lucky they are to hear Dio do Catch the Rainbow. He is and will always be THE Vocalist for this song (ever heard Graham Bonnet sing it...?)
Tracy's guitar playing was exellent (Mistreated was well done), Vinnies drumming was good. The Bass player and the Keyboard were a bit out of the picture..
And Mr. Ronnie James Dio was of course THE BEST. After (50,51,52....? years) He still has the best voice in the galaxy.
Hope you read my Review of Gent and my Review of London (- Interested in trading for a LIVE AT THE LONDON ASTORIA video - Any Dio/Blackmore material, send A list to aster@worldonline.nl (ATTN:Richard Beatty)
See you all at the next tour, keep Rockin'
