Some sources say that the Long Live Rock 'N' Roll tour started already in 1977 when Rainbow played in the UK. Those dates have been included here instead of Long Live Rock 'N' Roll dates.
The 1977 tour was supposed to start at Finlandia-talo in Helsinki, Finland on September 23rd. The band had rehearsed in the UK for the tour and flew over to Finland to give interviews to the press before the show. The show was advertised in the local newspapers, here are a couple of examples: Helsingin Sanomat on September 19th, 1977 and Helsingin Sanomat, unknown date in 1977.
At the same time the truck carrying Rainbow's equipment started its journey to Finland from England. The truck trip became a nightmare, resulting the Finland show to be cancelled. The truck was stopped by customs multiple times for drug search; first already in England in the harbour, then in Holland and for the third time as it arrived to Sweden. All these inspections took so much time that the truck was still 100 kilometres from Stockholm when the ferry started its 13-14 hour sailing to Finland.
The band was giving interviews in Finland explaining the situation and the show naturally was then cancelled. After this disappointment with the first gig, the band then flew to Stockholm to launch their tour from there.
